Balo & Becks are a comedy writing duo who met in secondary school and reconnected in 2018. With very different paths — Balo as a touring rapper then prison suicide counsellor, Becks ghost-writing sermons in a strict upbringing before globe-trotting to escape — they bring unique perspectives and shared dark humour to their work. They started writing together after a chance run-in on ‘Cally Road’ and haven’t stopped since.
Three months after they started writing together, they were shortlisted for the inaugural Felix Dexter Bursary. They’ve since been in development on projects with Broke and Bones and Camden Pictures. They are currently working with Sister Pictures on an original limited comedy series. They’re also developing an idea set in a struggling Nigerian church.
